Dr. Tommy L. Brown
Tommy L. Brown is the fifth pastor of New Mount Zion Baptist Church, Inc. of Dallas, Texas. Since becoming their pastor in October of 2014, over five hundred members have been added to the New Mount Zion Church family.
Dr. Brown is a graduate of Andersonville Theological Seminary, where he received his Bachelor of Theology, Master of Theology, and Doctor of Theology degrees.
Dr. Brown also is a graduate of Navarro Junior College, where he received an Associate of Arts degree in Business and Computer Science. He is a 1980 graduate of Ennis High School in Ennis, Texas.
Dr. Brown is a respected leader, not only at the local level, but also at the state and national levels. He serves as president of the Dallas Baptist Ministers’ Union, third vice moderator of the Greater Rising Star District Association and has served as general secretary of the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America. He was selected as Minister of the Year in Dallas by the Interdenominational Ministers Alliance in February 2016.
Dr. Brown is a member of the R. H. Boyd Publishing Corporation board of directors.
Dr. Brown has been honored in Who’s Who Among American Businessmen and Who’s Who in Black Dallas, where he was honored as a game-changer in the city in the 2016 edition.
A prolific preacher, teacher, and writer, he is author of Activate Your Faith. Dr. Brown’s passion is preaching and teaching. He is a gifted man of God who loves ministering to families.
Dr. Brown is married to his high school sweetheart, Ruth Chanel Morris Brown. The couple was featured in the Mixing Love and Business section of the January 2010 edition of Trendsetters to Trendsetters magazine.
Dr. and Mrs. Brown have been teaching the course titled Marriage God’s Style at the National Baptist Congress for more than ten years. He has served as a Congress instructor for more than twenty years.
The couple has two daughters, Veronica and Angela, and one son, Joshua.
